hand crafted art glass beads and jewellery

About Me

I come from a very creative family. My mother has always been a major artistic influence on me. She was an artist when I was young, and then became a Potter, as well as a major dabbler in all things art and craft. Dad was a Carpenter and musician and taught the guitar. I look back and think about that wonderful environment and feel privileged to have experienced it. One thing I learned was to set no limits or boundaries for your art and to experiment, I also learned to find inspiration everywhere.

After my oldest daughter was born, I started my artistic odyssey into Photography, and followed interests in victorian crafts and tassle making. I continued sampling different crafts like mosaics and ceramic painting and then finally started making my own jewellery. After travelling to New Zealand on holidays, I saw some fantastic Paua Shell jewellery there and decided to use this in my jewellery.

While looking for beads on the internet for my victorian crafts, I came across lampwork beadmaking in the US and was totally enthralled. I was lucky enough to be able to attend a 2 day workshop on glass beadmaking in 2004. I haven't looked back and find my journey into glass beadmaking and all facets of glasswork one of the most interesting and fulfilling artforms I have ever come across. I feel I have finally found my medium and I am challenged and captivated by the glass every time I use it. I am inspired to make jewellery by the beads and glass & being a jewellery designer inspires me to make the beads - the perfect symbiotic relationship!!!

I hope you enjoy sharing this journey with me.
